Abstract:

This report discusses the status and distribution of merlins within select areas of Idaho. The survey found merlins are rare nesters in the state. They are regular migrants and can be found wintering in most parts of the Idaho. Further monetary commitment is need to further study these birds. Data from the report concludes that falconers during the fall and winter months could trap merlins, but not harvest their nestlings.
