Abstract:

The Blue Grosbeak (Guiraca caerulea) is a summer resident in Central California, southern Nevada, southern and eastern Utah, and southern Colorado (A.O.U. Check-list of North American Birds—5th Edition). I have found no record of this bird being in Idaho. On August 21, 1967, one and one-half miles north of Glenn’s Ferry, Elmore County, Idaho, I observed two male and one female Blue Grosbeaks foraging in a roadside stand of sunflowers (Helianthus annuus). The two males flew to a nearby cornfield where they were observed feeding with some American Goldfinches (Spinus tristis).
