Abstract:

Six pygmy shrews (Sorex hoyi) were collected in pitfall traps between 9 September and 28 October 1984 on the Spokane Indian Reservation, Stevens County, Washington. These are the first pygmy shrews captured in Washington since 1897, when the only other specimen (type specimen for Microsorex hoyi washingtoni) was found. The shrews from the Spokane Reservation were collected approximately 20 km west-southwest from the original site at Loon Lake, Stevens County.
