Abstract:

This document is designed to be a set of cards to help biologists, students, teachers, natural resource managers, and any other interested people identify Idaho’s amphibians. Fifteen species of amphibians occur in the state: five salamanders and ten frogs or toads. One of the salamanders and one of the frogs are nonnative species. There are 14 identification cards, most containing four or more photographs per species. A very small map of the state is provided for each species to depict its general distribution, though knowledge of distribution is incomplete. Forms are also provided for documenting observations and can be copied and sent to the Idaho Museum of Natural History to augment knowledge of amphibian distribution in the state.
