This account describes the general characteristics and distribution of the Great Basin pocket mouse (Perognathus parvus Peale, 1848), a gray- to buff-colored mouse which occupies almost the entire Great Basin Region of western North America, also extending northward into Washington and southern British Columbia. The account summarizes what is known of its form and physiology, ontogeny and reproduction, ecology, genetics, and behavior.
