Abstract:

New names are proposed for two junior homonyms: Notoxus peccatus Chandler and Nardi for Notoxus orientalis Chandler, Notoxus tlaxcalensis Chandler and Nardi for Notoxus pygidialis Chandler. Two new synonymies are recognized: Notoxus dugesi Pic, 1901 (= Notoxus stephani Chandler, 1978) and Notoxus fraternus Champion 1890 (= Notoxus talpa var. subnotatus Pic, 1913). Notoxus argentinus Pic is redescribed and may be an introduced Palearctic species. Three new species are described: N. carrorum Chandler, Rocky Mountains of North America; N. beameri Chandler, New Mexico; N. lipovskyi Chandler, western Mexico.
