Abstract:

The author's publications on the North American Melanopli began in 1917 with a study of the Mexican Melanopli, published in the proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences. The first of the present series was published in 1918 and the last in 1935, all in the Transactions of the American Entomological Society except the description of a single new species of Melanoplus, published in the Entomological News in 1923. In the last two parts it was found advisable to consider all of the species of the seven Groups concerned, and this method has been followed in parts VII and IX of the present study.
