In urban areas of southwestern Idaho the Black-chinned Hummingbird (Archilochus alexandri) commonly nests in low hanging branches of Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) trees. Those nest sites are vulnerable to destruction by periodic pruning of low hanging branches for landscaping purposes. This report documents the hazard of branch pruning to a Black-chinned Hummingbird nest.
