Abstract:

This bulletin describes the jackrabbits of Arizona: the antelope jackrabbit (Lepus alleni) and black-tailed jackrabbits (Lepus californicus ssp.) and their life histories and ecology: physical description, distribution and habitat, general habits (including daily and seasonal movements), breeding habits, and feeding habits and food. Also discussed are the jackrabbits’ enemies, parasites and diseases, and numbers, as well as the economic effects (negative and positive) and control of jackrabbits. The bulletin concludes with a summary of findings.
