Abstract:

Twenty-one pairs of peregrine falcons occupied territories within Idaho in 1999. Ten pairs (48%) successfully produced 22 young for an average of 1.05 young per pair and 2.2 young per successful pair. Six young were banded as nestlings. The 21 pairs monitored this year represent an increase of 4 pairs (24%) over the number monitored in 1998. Pairs were not observed at 4 nest sites previously occupied in 1998. Six pairs were discovered at new sites in central and eastern Idaho, although reports suggest that several may have been there prior to 1999. Two recently occupied sites not occupied in 1998 were again occupied in 1999. Surveys were conducted at 43 locations across the State.
