Abstract:

Report presents results of wildlife, plant community, and wetland surveys of the Mountain Home AFB, Saylor Creek Range, and associated areas. The AFB has disturbed habitat with limited amounts of native vegetation and wildlife, including Davis's peppergrass, nesting burrowing owls, and several stands of moderate-quality Wyoming big sagebrush. Protecting remnant populations of native vegetation, wetlands, and wildlife there would provide an island of habitat for plant and wildlife resources of SW ID. Saylor Creek Range and R-3202A contain considerably more native vegetation and wildlife. The Bruneau River canyon within R-3202A holds riparian vegetation that provides habitat for a wide variety of songbirds, raptors, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Habitat along the cliff walls also provides invaluable habitat for many species of birds, small mammals, and reptiles. Report includes species lists and map diagrams.
