Abstract:

This report summarizes and consolidates ecological and silvicultural knowledge of lodgepole pine forests, particularly pertaining to regeneration of stands. It describes the timber resource, autecology, and synecology of Rocky Mountain lodgepole pine, including discussions of injurious agents. The report also discusses factors affecting both natural and artificial regeneration and makes recommendations for successfully restocking harvested areas.
