Abstract:

We calculated edge-corrected density estimates of a Townsend ground squirrel (Spermophilus townsendii) population using a movement-based estimator and evaluated the naive density estimates of the population made in an earlier investigation. Ground squirrels were captured, marked, and released on a 280 by 280-m grid within the Snake River Birds of Prey Area in southwestern Idaho.
