Abstract:

This article discusses the genus (subgenus?) Callophrys in the Pacific Northwest and the difficulties in discriminating species/subspecies. Three species of Callophrys s. s. are known from region; one is recorded for the first time in this paper: Callophrys affinis washingtonia, C. dumetorum, C. sheridanii neoperplexa, and C. sheridanii newcomeri (new subspecies). For C. sheridanii, issues of geographic variation and climatic adaptation in the Pacific Northwest are also discussed.
