Abstract:

Butterflies and moths are some of the most widely distributed and recognizable insects. They are found worldwide in nearly every habitat, comprising an estimated 174,250 species. About 700 butterflies and 11,000 moths are found in North America. Nearly 400 species of Lepidoptera have been recorded on Craters of the Moon (CRMO), and over 100 additional species may occur here. This documents lists the species that have been documented on CRMO (a citation is provided), as well as species that are “likely” or “possible” here (definitions of those terms are provided) and includes some color photographs.
