Abstract:

This report describes the results of 2011 surveys for the Columbia spotted frog conducted on private property in Owyhee County, Idaho. Funded by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the survey effort included the following goals: 1) develop and foster positive relationships with private landowners in the county; 2) assess the relative distribution of Columbia spotted frog on private property compared to historic observations; 3) survey potential frog habitat with no known historic or current spotted frog presence; 4) monitor the frog’s colonization and use of newly created pond habitats; and 5) identify Columbia spotted frog habitat conservation/improvement projects to be implemented in the future. The report includes maps of the survey area, explanation of methods, and tabulations and descriptions of survey results.
