Abstract:

An inventory for Lepidium papilliferum was conducted by ERO Resources Corp. on 2560 acres of BLM lands south of the Juniper Butte Air Force withdrawal area. This study was funded by USFWS funds acquired by the Air Force. ERO inventoried 2,171 slickspots for occupancy and found 200 slickspots (9%) to be occupied. A total of 1,057 flowering and 214 rosette L. papilliferum plants were recorded. Inventories were conducted for L. papilliferum during several project clearances: Inside Desert Fire Rehab, Grassy Hills Sagebrush Planting, Conover fuels break, and Colorado State University Joint Fire Science Research Project. No new populations were identified during these field inventories which covered less than 25 total acres. No monitoring of L. papilliferum was conducted in the Twin Falls District with the exception of the HIP monitoring completed by IDFG funded by BLM under the Challenge Cost Share program. As part of the HIP monitoring, the Grazing Board funded a BLM liaison position to assist with the monitoring. A final report was written summarizing the success of the HIP monitoring liaison position.
