Species Account:
In driving by the Warm Springs Golf Course I saw something disturbing: they have installed a wire fence with yellow flutter tape along the road that seems designed to disrupt the elk herd migrating down to the river for water. I understand what they are trying to do in protecting their fairway, but I'm very concerned that by setting up this fence along a known migration path, the golf course operators are forcing the elk back on to the roadway where they are likely to cause a car accident with potentially lethal consequences to both drivers and the elk. I'd suggest they find another way to deal with this before someone gets killed. I apologize for using the roadkill report to log this in, but if they don't take down that fence there may be more than elk killed. For verification, I observed 23 elk up the Harris Ranch valley this evening working their way down the valley. There are significant elk track ruts in the hillside opposite the golf course at the address listed.
