Species Account:
My wife and I took a trip to the rainbow lakes on trinity mountain. We were camping at fiddler lake. On our second day there we decided to hike to trinity look out, the hard way. We hiked up the rock/boulder slide. The stream that fed fiddler lake ran beneath the slide. once we reached the top of the rock slide the terrain opened up into a bowl with a meadow/marsh in the center. Across the marsh, at the bottom of the rock face up to the lookout, I saw something begin to run. It moved about 20 yards up the rocks out of the marsh, stopped, and turned and looked at us. I pointed it out to my wife. Then it was quickly gone. The entire sighting was over in less than 45 seconds to a minute. It was dark/dirty brown, with a weasel like head, and probably weighed around 25-30 lbs. I was suspicious of what I had seen. So when we reached the lookout I talked to the woman there and she confirmed wolverines in the area. I feel pretty lucky and doubt I will see one again. I hope so though.
