Species Account:
My Dad and I were hunting for whitetail in Unit 18 just outside of Riggins up race creek rd. We went to our usual spot and sat under our usual pine tree. 15 mins or so after being there, my Dad taps me on the shoulder and there it is. It came out of the tree line to the east and did a 90 degree circle around us clockwise. My Dad took a few pictures and then it spotted because my Dad was moving to get a better picture. The puma froze and was obviously scared, didn't know what we were , and wanted nothing to do with us. So, it backed up and followed the same route back toward the tree line from where he first saw it and was out of sight. I pulled out my range finder and it was between 60 and 70 yards away the whole time it was in sight. Beautiful animal and it looked healthy. Very grateful to have seen such a majestic animal.
