Species Account:
"I saw a wolverine on Nut Basin Road above Slate Creek in early November. The animal was in the area near Slate Point Lookout... The sighting was in early November while I was moose hunting in unit 14-2 near the Slate Creek Drainage. I was on road #441 and saw the wolverine approximately one half mile beyond the junction of road #441 and road #2038. On the Nez Perce National forest map it would be section 14, Township 1 N., Range 2 E. The animal was in the road about 11:00 AM. I was driving up the road . When it saw me I was approx. 30 - 40 yards from it. At that point it ran up the road for a few yards and then left the road heading southeast and disappeared in the timber and brush. My guess is that it was just crossing the road when I came around a bend in the road below it. There was some fresh snow in the road and from the tracks it had just come out of the timbers a few feet from where I first spotted it."
