Anecdotal observations of the individual made by the responding conservation officers were that it
seemed to be a small individual, maybe a young wolverine. CO Justin Williams estimated it weighed ~25-
30 pounds. He had a body camera running during the release and in that video it is possible to observe
the chest markings on the individual which consist of a thin, zig-zag pattern collar around the upper

The trapper reported the non-target capture to Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG) Senior Conservation Officer,
Malcolm Clemenhagen at 5:36 pm saying the animal was alive and caught by the hind foot. Regional
Conservation Officer Dave Silcock passed on the report to District Conservation Officer (CO) Justin
Williams at 8:55 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. At ~10:00 pm Officer Silcock called Officer Williams
back and requested he meet with Senior CO Matt Cahoon to release the wolverine that night. CO Williams met with CO Cahoon at 11:15 pm. The officers arrived on site at 11:55 pm.
