Species Account:
Note: 6:40 3 chicks observed at front edge of aerie; 1 further into aerie. All appear to be of nearly equal size, with only one showing signs of remaining down in places. Lots of wing flapping and hopping around. 7:43 Both adults landed at aerie, but immediately flew away and then repeated activity. No food was brought, so it appeared to be a teaching moment. 7:55 One chick "climbed" about 18 in. above aerie and perched on a small ledge; it remained there for rest of viewing time. We speculate that they will all fledge within a week or less. 9:35 End observation. One adult bald eagle observed, but no sighting of chick which appears to have fledged during the past week.
