Species Account:
Note: Bombed two immature bald eagles (twice). Perched, guarding territory, alert calls.Observation is difficult because of steepness of approach and obstruction by trees. Two areas were used: (1) directly below the cliff 150 m away on a 30-degree slope and (2) ridge to southwest - great view of entire cliff area but at least 500 m away. The latter will work okay with high quality binocs and spotting scope. Two potential nest sites were identified directly below the primary perch area on top of the cliff. The birds were only seen soaring above the cliff, perched at the top of the cliff, and attacking bald eagles. Also observed 2 moose, deer, and 11 mountain goats (at 200 m) - amazing site. Will return in a week.
