Species Account:
I’m an ISU student doing riparian big sagebrush research upstream of Marsh Creek in Bannock county. Noticed balsamroot on the side of the road and pulled over to check it out. Saw arrowleaf balsamroot but then noticed a lot of other flowering plants that looked like arrowleaf balsamroot but they were MUCH bigger, had loved leaves, and a sticky, hairy flower stock. Looked at identification keys online I came to the conclusion that it’s most likely hoary balsamroot.
