Monitoring or research needs for this population:
Monitoring is essential for conservation planning and adaptive management application.
Management needs for this population:
Conservation actions taken since 2008 have included the establishment of a rangewide monitoring program and: (1) closure of the Packard’s milkvetch population area to off-road motorcycle and ATV use; (2) construction of exclosures to protect the majority of subpopulations from livestock disturbance; (3) initiation of vegetation treatments to enhance or restore Packard’s milkvetch habitat, with a focus on reducing the abundance of annual grass species and increasing food sources for local pollinators; and (4) field surveys to more fully delineate known occurrences and also to find new Packard’s milkvetch locations.
