Habitat Description:
At elevation 6000 ft, this slope is covered with Pinus flexilis and has a small stand of Juniperus scopulorum. Many dead P. flexilis are near the upper limits of the station. Shrubs Chrysothamnus (Ericameria) nauseosus, Purshia tridentata, and Ribes cereum are abundant. Principal herbs include Crepis accuminatum (C. acuminata), C(ymopterus) terebinthinus, Gayophytum nuttalli (G. humile), Lupinus caudatus, and Phacelia leucophylla. A few clumps of Elymus (Leymus) condensatus occur in the more open areas (Horning and Barr1970).
