Treeless, south slope at 7000 ft. Soil is of granitic origin, with no evidence of lava activity, and supports a dense cover of Heracleum lanatum, Rudbeckia occidentalis, Salix spp., Senecio serra, Urtica lyalli, and several tall unidentified grasses (Horning and Barr 1970).
