Habitat Description: 
At elevation 5850 ft. This cinder cone is old and covered with a dense stand of Pinus flexilis and shrubs. Soil consists mainly of decomposed cinder and provides a good base for plant growth. Shrubs: Artemisia tridentata, C(hamaebatiaria) millefolium, Chrysothamnus (Ericameria) nauseosus, Purshia tridentata, and Ribes cereum. Herbs of entomological importance: C(haenactis) douglasii, L(upinus) caudatus, and P(hacelia) leucophylla. Mimulus nanus grows in the more open spaces (Horning and Barr 1970).
