This species is locally abundant and thus the expansion of the landfill will unlikely adversely affect the long-term viability of Pediocactus simpsonii.
Additional population comments:
>50 Pediocactus simpsonii individuals were found on adjacent south-facing (8-40%) hillslope towards scattered abundantly towards the headwaters of the spring. Due to the high amount of individuals, only several waypoints were taken during the survey.
