Species Account:
Richard Renstrom led this SIBA Field Trip on one of his favorite hikes to Hazard Creek Falls. It wasn't very birdy but Hazard Creek and the FAlls were spectacular this year with so much water. Great weather - not too cool and not too-- warm. Great time was had by all! Take Hazard Creek Rd off of Hwy 95 (about 3 hours from Caldwell with 3 potty stops). Nice parking area just off the hwy if want to carpool up the hill. At fork in road up the hill, take the upper fork - #287) and trailhead is .3 miles from the fork. There's a pullout spot where the cars can be parked. The Falls is 2.6 miles up with an 800 ft. elevation. Not bad! Have to backtrack to come back down. No loop available. The lower fork would take you into Hard Creek Meadow which is another great hike according to Richard. Maybe it next year!
