Species Account:
Thought I saw a pied-billed grebe by the "whirlpool" area near the boat launch. Didn't have binoculars or camera on my walk so had to rely on what I saw with my eyes. Shape and habits were consistent with pied-billed grebe - dived underwater, silhouette like a pied-billed grebe. Checked Sibley's and found that this species doesn't winter here but does further west. Maybe I will see it again and will be able to photograph it.
