Habitat Description: 
On a flat clearing at 6300 ft, adjacent to a beaver pond. Soil is of granitic origin, with no evidence of lava activity. Many plant species are present, but only a few were checked regularly for insects. Principal trees: Alnus tenuifolia (A. incana), Populus tremuloides, P. trichocarpa, with scattering of Salix spp. A few shrubs, such as Artemisia tridentata and Chrysothamnus (Ericameria) nauseosus, grow in the more open areas. A heavy stand of mixed vegetation occurs along the creek and includes Agastache urticifolia, H(eracleum) lanatum (H. maximum), Prunus virginiana, Rubus parviflorus, S(enecio) serra, U(rtica) lyalli, and Xanthium strumarium (Horning and Barr 1970).
