Survey

Survey Site:
Big Dry Canyon
Survey Intensity:
fairly thorough

Population

EO Number:
88
EO ID:
27872
EO History:
revisit
More potential habitat to survey:
unsure
Suggestions for other areas to survey:
Steve Popovich has surveyed high potential P. insecticruris habitat in this area.
Monitoring or research needs for this population:
Should visit earlier in the season when non-fruiting plants are better identifiable, for a more accurate population size estimate. Noxious weeds monitoring is important here, with the population having burned in 2017 (Martin Fire), and the adjacent area (across the road) having burned in 2018 (Sharps Fire).
Additional population comments:
Plants were senescent and some may have been missed in counting individuals (especially those which did not fruit).

Also searched for P. insecticruris down the Big Dry Canyon drainage until 43.48005°N, -114.16049°E (park site); little potential habitat was found along here.
