Abstract:

The Challis Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management contracted with Alderspring Ecological Consulting (Caryl Elzinga, Ph.D.) to conduct rare plant surveys in the Mountain Springs Allotment. The objective of the field survey was twofold: 1) Relocate and assess the condition of historic occurrences, many of which had not been visited in over 20 years 2) Locate new populations.

New populations were found and known populations relocated for the following plant species: Astragalus amblytropis, Astragalus aquilonius, Astragalus leptaleus, Eriogonum capistratum var. welshii, Oyxtropis besseyi var salmonensis, and Thelypodium repandum. A total of 46 new populations were documented, and 6 known populations reassessed.
