Abstract:

Nineteen (19) pairs of peregrine falcons occupied territories within Idaho in 2001. Fourteen pairs (73%) successfully produced 32 young for an average of 1.68 young per pair and 2.2 young per successful pair. Two young were banded as nestlings. The 19 pairs monitored this year represent a 4-pair (17%) decrease over the number monitored in 2000 (23). Peregrines were not observed at 3 sites that were previously occupied in 2000. One historical site (Tower Rock) produced young that had previously not had documented production. One site (Market Tower) that never produced young was decommissioned. No new territories were discovered. Surveys were conducted at 12 locations across the state.
