Cackling Goose was small, short necked, had a stubby bill, steep forehead, and dusky chest. It was a bit more than 1/2 the size of a small group of Canada Geese it was with. (There were plenty of Mallards present but none close enough for direct comparison.) I would guess it was subspecies B.c. minima.
