Species Account:
Numbers are for adults only. Less diversity of shorebirds than on my 3 prior visits. Those present this time may all be breeders. The snipe was calling from a fence post in typical breeder fashion at the edge of a pond with emergent grasses. There were 2 females and a male Wilson's Phalarope feeding on the west (spray) pond with where breeding seems likely. Much lower numbers of adult (7) and gosling (4) Canada Goose suggests they had waddled off to feed in fields, since gosling are much too young to fly. However, search of field with binocs didn't reveal any. Mallards had 4 ducklings that were wildly scooting across the water. Kestrel had 2 fledged young.
