Abstract:

This report provides information on whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis), Sacajawea's bitterroot (Lewisia sacajaweana), and pika (Ochotona princeps) observed during a recreational hike on July 24, 2016. Whitebark pine is a candidate species for listing under the ESA. Sacajawea's bitterroot is a sensitive species on the Boise and Salmon-Challis NFs. Pika is a species of interest potentially impacted by climate change. The location of these observations is in the upper Cape Horn Creek drainage in Custer County, Idaho. This area is on the Salmon-Challis National Forest and lies just off the east side of the Boise NF.
