Abstract:

The objective of this project is to continue the inventory of suitable habitat for Pyrrocoma scaberula. Suitable habitat on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest consists of mesic grasslands and transition zones between grasslands and ponderosa pine communities Pyrrocoma scaberula may be found from lower to upper slopes (usually <35%) and along ridges. It is most commonly found within Festuca idahoensis communities, but the more arid tolerant Pseudoroegneria spicata ssp. spicata is an associate, as well as Balsamorhiza sagittata, Erigeron speciosus, Poa secunda, and Gentiana affinis.
