Abstract:

For over two weeks, the author surveyed numerous environments at Craters of the Moon National Monument, taking samples of butterflies to see which species are present at the Monument. After categorizing the environments into three groups, he lists species he saw within each (and provided total numbers of each species per environment group). He found one species in two of the three environments. He also lists butterfly species that the USGS Northern Prairie Research website indicates as likely ones to use Craters of the Moon National Monument, and he lists facts about various butterfly families.
