This table shows monarch butterfly numbers by site name for 1997 through 2014. (Blank cells indicate that no Thanksgiving count was conducted at those sites in those years.) In this 18-year survey period, by far the highest overall monarch butterfly number (1,235,490) was observed the first year, 1997.
