Abstract:

Observations on feeding strategies utilized by seven species of Cicindela and one species of Omus, from California and Nevada are presented. Strategies include probing the substrate with extended jaws for Chironomid midge larvae, scavenging around fumaroles for dead and dying insects, capturing dipterans in midair, hunting congeners, and hunting in tidal pools.
