This DRAFT report presents results of an acoustic bat inventory initiated in 2012 to obtain baseline data on bat populations on USFWS National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) in the eastside zone of USFWS Region 1, or east of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon and Washington and on all NWRs in Idaho. Objectives of the project are to develop protocols for acoustic bat detection on NWRs, document the occurrence and activity of bats on the refuges, provide baseline data for use in developing a general monitoring strategy and assessing future impacts of White-nose Syndrome, and provide data in formats that are easily accessible to site managers, scientists, and the public. Surveys were conducted in 2012 and 2013. The canyon bat was detected at 6 refuges, including Kootenai NWR, well north of the mapped range of canyon bat. [Our files include an Excel spreadsheet of sightings put together by Tim Weekley, Nongame Program, from this report.]
