Sage-grouse and Wildfire
The Grassy Ridge fire in the Upper Snake Region burned almost 100,000 acres in the summer of 2018.
Since we were already monitoring sage-grouse in the area as part of the High-elevation Sage-grouse Ecology project, this provided the perfect opportunity to examine how sage-grouse habitat use and population performance might change after a large-scale wildfire.
This information will be useful for Idaho land and sage-grouse managers and all entities across the west that manage sage-grouse and sagebrush lands.
