Wolf Population Monitoring

The goal of this collaborative project with the University of Idaho and University of Montana is to estimate wolf population trends at state and regional levels using data from camera stations and DNA collected from harvested wolves and focused ground surveys.

We’re also examining our ability to produce statewide and regional wolf density estimates from a statewide camera grid and how that camera grid could also be used to produce estimates for a variety of species.
