Moose Health and Survival
This project with the University of Idaho is designed to understand the survival, causes of mortality, and disease/parasite loads of adult moose across the state and use ground surveys to understand newborn moose calf survival.
We’ve marked adult cow moose across all major moose habitats in the state to examine whether mortality causes are similar statewide or if there are different factors impacting moose in different populations.
Managers will use this research to help guide moose seasons and predict future moose population trends.
