This is confusing, does the Hunting Passport allow an 8 year old or older actually harvest a turkey or other game animal that requires a purchase of a tag. If so do they purchase the tag or use the mentors tag?
Answer:
Please check the Hunter Passport information on our website, paying attention to the questions/answers at the bottom of the page (https://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/licenses/?getPage=332).
The key is the age. At ten, holders of the hunting passport can hunt turkeys and varmints, upland game animals and birds. With the hunting passport an 8 year old can harvest other birds and varmints.
Beginning July 1, youth 10 years old and up can harvest turkeys or big game.
Each hunter must have their own tag. The hunting passport allows the hunter to purchase a tag.
