Mountain Goat Monitoring

We collaborating with the University of Montana to test the reliability of remote camera methods and ground survey techniques for estimating mountain goat numbers.

We’ve traditionally monitored mountain goat populations with infrequent helicopter aerial surveys, which are costly and aren’t always effective.

To be considered successful, the new approaches we develop need to reduce cost and employee risk relative to aerial surveys and provide reliable data for setting hunting permit numbers and population and habitat management.
