Status of Rulemaking

This proposed rule is published in the September 2, 2020, Idaho Administrative Bulletin.

A public comment period was open from September 2 to September 23, 2020.

Description

This rulemaking proposal is to simplify rules associated with the use of bait for the trapping of furbearing and predatory animals. These proposed changes are currently allowed with gray wolf trapping and this would create consistency between trapping gray wolves, furbearers, and predatory animals.

The proposal would permit people trapping furbearing and predatory animals to use naturally killed big game as bait as long as the carcass was left undisturbed. All other existing rules related to the use of bait while trapping furbearers would remain in place.
